Myself (Emily) and husband (Lee) are on this trip - getting really excited now. Are you flying from Heathrow?
Hi, my name's Carmen,
Yes, i'm flying from Heathrow 8pm, you too? I'm pretty nervous as i'm going on this trip alone, sure i'm not the only one. Have you been on these trips before?
Be good to meet others on this trip at the airport.
Hi, great to meet you.
I've been on one other Exodus trip to Cuba which was fantastic, and there was a few single travellors on that one, so I'm sure there will be similar on this one too. It didn't really matter to be honest, as everyone was very like minded, and got on really well - hopefully this trip will be too.
Yes, we're flying from Heathrow too, so we could arrange to meet up somewhere. I've just seen on the news that Nairobi airport has had a massive fire this morning. Will have to wait and see whether that affects us at all.
Hi, i'm getting quite excited now, it seems to have come about all of a sudden, two weeks today we should be at our first campsight, looks like a gentle intruduction, before we're get into "real camping" begins! Think i've pretty much got all my kit together, just wondering about the clothes front, i've got to re-think, cos they say no bright colours on saffari and i tend to wear "bright"!
Hi Emily, Lee and Carmen,
We are travelling to London from Dublin next week, very excited to be going on another adventure!! Any updates on Nairobi airport? We are also on that 8pm flight with you (haven't received our tickets yet, do you have yours?)
Lynsey and Andrew.
We got our "final instructions" email a couple of weeks ago, which had flight details on it. I think it is electronic tickets, so you just need your passport at the airport. I contacted Exodus last week to reserve seats, which they have now done for us (I'm a bit of a window hogger!).
Was talking to a friend last week about what to wear for the gorilla trekking (such a girly question), as they have just got back from Rwanda, and they said make sure you wear long trousers and top, as there are fire ants. They said - lightweight, quick drying clothes are best, along with gaitors, and gardening gloves if you have them. We're taking walking boots too, just in case its really muddy etc.
Haven't really given much thought to anything else, but may go and stock up on some more t-shirts this week.
Nairobi airport apparently is back up and running, but we'll probably experience delays at immigration.
wow - thats an excuse to go shopping I've never heard of before! Maybe the cat knows you're about to leave her for a while. Probably a good idea to get a new bag - you dont want to run the chance of the smell of cat pee attracting the slightly bigger cats they have in Africa...
4 working days to go...I am now SO excited. Think I'm going to be unbearable this week! Started to get all our stuff together this weekend - seems we have a lot of different temperatures to deal with, so stratgic packing, and definately using compression bags. One question for you - are you planning on taking dollars or sterling? If we can get away with sterling, that would be fab...
Do you want to meet in the departures bit? I think we are planning on getting to the airport between 5.30 and 6ish, so should be through customs etc by 6.30ish.
