Finland tours FAQs
The length of your holiday will depend on the specific tour that you choose. We’ve carefully handcrafted a selection of activity holidays in Finland to suit a range of different interests and fitness levels.
Our shortest Finland tour is the Wild Finland wildlife holiday, which gives you the opportunity spot the notorious brown bear across five nights at Basecamp Oulanka. Otherwise, you’ll stay for eight days if you’re going snowshoeing, cross-country skiing or dogsledding on one of our winter Finland tours.
Once you know where to visit in Finland, your experience there will be largely shaped by the season. Many of our clients choose to visit Finland during the summer months, when the weather is pleasantly warm, the days are surprisingly long and the luscious landscape is in full bloom. By April, the days are so long that you might see the midnight sun.
We’re also experts in organising winter Finland tours from December through to February. If you’re dreaming of soft, undisturbed snowfall and the chance to traverse through decadent forests in a dreamlike landscape, the winter months might be a better time to visit Finland.
On our winter Finland tours, you could go cross-country skiing in Finnish Lapland, snowshoeing with all the gear provided or simply adventuring in the snow. On our Wilderness Week tour, you can travel by snowshoe, ski, or dogsled – all between sipping homemade soup around the fire.
You could even participate in active research by taking freshwater samples that contribute directly to the eBioAtlas, the world’s largest source for data on flora and fauna species. You can find out more about our sustainable Citizen Science Departures and efforts to contribute to biodiversity in these beautiful natural environments.
We’ve crafted a selection of Finland holidays to suit a range of visitors. Due to its laid-back itinerary and focus on games and activities, our Finnish Winter Adventure is best suited to families. If you’re looking for adventure as a solo traveller, we’ll be ready to make you feel welcome and forget any worries.
All of our handcrafted Finland tours provide the opportunity to meet and socialise with like-minded people. Group activities are plentiful but never compulsory – and each evening you’ll have the opportunity to reconvene and share stories from the day.
The cost of a holiday in Finland will depend on your chosen tour and the types of activity in which you’d like to take part. Longer stays with larger group sizes could cost you more, especially if you’re thinking of hiring specialist equipment like cross-country skis.
Our Finnish Wilderness Week starts from £2,199 for eight days of guided group adventure, excluding flights. The price for this Finland tour may increase if you require single accommodation or travel during the festive season.
Deciding what to wear in Finland should be guided by the time of your visit. We provide snowshoes and poles on our snowshoeing tours, along with snowsuits and boots. However, some of our guests prefer to bring their own equipment – so, if you think that you’ll be most comfortable in your own kit, you should certainly pack it.
If you’re heading on a trip to Finland during winter, we’d recommend packing a few warm base layers. Temperatures frequently drop below freezing but you’ll keep warm with just your snowsuit and base layer if you’re on the move.
During summer, you’ll feel warm enough to wear one layer but conditions might still change very quickly. It’s a good idea to pack a light jacket and waterproofs in case there’s a few showers, too.
If you’re thinking of joining us on a Finland tour with your children, we’ll cover the details and itinerary, so that you can get stuck in straight away. However, there are a few things that you can do in advance to help the whole family to feel a little bit more prepared.
Activities on our Finnish Winter Adventure holiday include snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and dogsledding. There’s no need for any prior knowledge or skill on these, as our friendly team will be happy to show you the ropes until the whole family feels confident.
If you’re able to do so, we recommend helping your children to get familiar with snow, heavy clothing and cold temperatures – just so that nothing comes as a shock!

“The best way to enjoy Finland is to immerge yourself in the Finnish wilderness like locals do. Come on a dogsled adventure or gaze at the stars at night to maybe catch a glimpse of the Northern lights on our Finnish Wilderness Week, and reward yourself with a sauna session. You will experience a unique sense of freedom.”
